Spectrum Award

HONORING AEC’S OUTSTANDING ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVES

This award is presented to the State or Local Association Executive, AEC Member, who most embodies the AEC “Standard of Conduct” as approved by AEC and who has demonstrated exemplary leadership.  The award reflects extraordinary achievements and the promise of future accomplishments with association management professional organizations and continuing professional development.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must have been a member of AEC for a minimum of three years and employed by a State or Local Association, affiliated with and in compliance with the bylaws of the PHCC-National Association, and the Association Executives Council, and who is a current member. The current AEC President is not eligible to receive this award while holding office.

SELECTION PROCESS

The Awards Committee shall make selection of the Spectrum Award winner, with presentation of the award at the annual PHCC-National Association Convention. It is not mandatory that this be an annual award. Such determination is to be made by the Awards Committee.

Nominations may be submitted by Presidents or AEC members of State or Local PHCC Associations (only one nomination submitted per person).

The Awards Committee may contact the Zone Director and/or an officer/director of the nominee’s Local or State Association to review the nominee’s qualifications for this award.

Selection will be based on association management career (50 points) and AEC/PHCC-National Association activities and involvement (50 points). There may be a State Association or Local Association Award.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

To assist the Awards Committee in evaluating your candidate, please address the following criteria as they relate to the nominee. You may enlist the assistance of the nominee for this purpose.

Required

  1. List the achievements during your association management career. Describe programs and activities which have been implemented that have enhanced the overall effectiveness and development of the employing association(s). 50 points

  2. List all AEC/PHCC-National Association activities. Include service as an officer, director and/or committee member if applicable. 50 points

Optional

  1. List participation in civic and community activities. Describe contributions and positions held, honors received, etc.

  2. List service and/or leadership in other professional organizations and associations. List memberships, describe achievements, include positions held, honors received, etc.

Standards of Conduct

As a member of the Association Executives Council of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contacts - National Association, I pledge myself to:

Maintain the highest standard of personal conduct.

Promote and encourage the highest level of ethics within the plumbing, heating, cooling industry.

Maintain loyalty to the association that employs me and pursue its objective in ways that are consistent with the public interest.

Recognize and discharge my responsibility and that of my association to uphold all laws and regulations relating to my association’s policies and activities.

Strive for excellence in all aspects of management of my association.

Use only legal and ethical means in all association activities.

Serve all members of my association impartially, provide no special privilege of any individual member, and accept no personal compensation from a member except with the knowledge and consent of my association's governing board.

Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information entrusted or known to me by virtue of my office.

Refuse to engage in, or countenance, activities for personal gain at the expense of my association or the plumbing, heating or cooling industry.

Always communicate association internal and external statements in a truthful and accurate manner.

Cooperate in every reasonable and proper way with other association executives, and work with them in the advancement of the profession of association management and

Use every opportunity to improve public understanding of the role of associations.
